Attempted to set one up on Windows 10 but am being informed that I cannot set one up on this computer. I cannot find a reason why. I am a complete noob at networking so any advice would be helpful. User’s post on March 19, I have checked all the above issues as recommended, and nothing appears to be wrong, I am the admin of this system, it is a stand alone, the network in question is a home group only not a business so there are “NO” restrictions.
Date and time are correct, and according to device manager all devices are running correctly, the 2 computers are of different names, and we have attempted to set up the home group from both directions, with the other system “NOT” showing any problems with the set up, that is we can set the home group up but it cannot find my computer.
It is in no network listing at all. Am I looking at a complete system format and re-install of the software?? In reply to glenn.
I also have this problem with homegroup after doing a ‘reset’ of my system. In my case the ‘Peer Networking Grouping service wasn’t running. When I tried to start it I was faced with ” error the dependency service or group failed to start ” So now I know what my problem is but fixing it might be a tad complex methinks.
