I am considering becoming an Autodesk user our university is presently using Autodesk cfd 2016 free and wish to compare features and functionality of the CFD Motion package to the Flow Simulation offered by SolidWorks. In particular, I wish to look at how it handles combined radiation and convection heat transfer. The changes in nomenclature are quite confusing. F Build Presuming that this is indeed not CFD Motion, may I please receive assistance on how to properly download and install this version of the software?
Go to Solution. Solved by Jon. Motion is not truly necessary, just the coupled radiative heat transfer – hopefully with the ability to define wavelength-dependent absorption coefficients for semi-transparent materials.
There is only one install for CFD and the functionality is driven by the licence type. I think that you should have access to the advanced autodesk cfd 2016 free if you have a student licence. I recommend taking a look at our online help too, this might answer some of your questions.
I would say this is outside of the current capabilities of CFD. The fused silica has a different spectral profile compared to the sapphire and will absorb most of the IR energy before it reaches the sapphire window. Neglecting radiation absorption is likely to result in very significant error given the radiation intensity.
